Northern Cambria Borough is a vibrant community in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, formed by the unification of the Barnesboro and Spangler communities. Located in the scenic mountain country of western Pennsylvania, our borough combines small-town character with a proud industrial heritage.

Our Roots
Borough History
Northern Cambria has a rich heritage rooted in Pennsylvania’s coal mining and industrial past.
Where It All Started
The communities of Barnesboro and Spangler are established as separate boroughs in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, drawing settlers attracted by coal mining opportunities in the region.
Forged by Industry
Coal mining becomes the dominant industry, and both communities grow rapidly. The railroad arrives, connecting the area to larger markets and enabling commercial growth throughout the region.
Generations of Progress
Civic institutions are established including fire companies, churches, schools, and fraternal organizations that form the backbone of community life still active today.

Part-Time Police Officer
Northern Cambria Borough is seeking qualified candidates for part-time police officer positions. Applicants must hold a valid Act 120 certification or be currently enrolled in training. Must pass background check, physical, and psychological evaluation.
Public Works / Street Crew Laborer
Seasonal positions available with the Borough Street Crew. Duties include road maintenance, snow removal, park upkeep, and general municipal labor. Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license required. CDL preferred.
